Welcome to the Program in Criminal Justice. Housed within the Department of Sociology, the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Criminal Justice provides a holistic and multidisciplinary curriculum for understanding crime, criminality, and criminalization, as well as the policies, practices, and functions of criminal justice systems. By majoring in criminal justice, you will be prepared for a broad array of career paths both within and beyond the traditional boundaries of criminal justice.
We help place our graduates in desirable public and private sector careers, while also providing academic and research-related mentorship to place students in competitive graduate and law school programs. Our faculty collectively represent the very best of what the State University of New Jersey has to offer, with courses taught by highly experienced practitioners, award-winning instructors, and faculty with national and international recognition for excellence in research, pedagogy, and service.
Whether you are considering a career in public service, advanced study via law school or graduate school, or are interested in fundamental questions about law, justice, public safety, crime reduction, and public policy, our faculty, staff, and broader learning community are here to support your academic and professional interests.
New and prospective students and families: I invite you to explore our website and discover all that our program has to offer.
